Local People in Control

Local People in Control

A very warm welcome to the Trust’s 2017 Annual Review, 'Local People in Control'.

The last year has been a time of change and turbulence for many across England, Scotland and Wales. Health inequalities remain a significant concern in all three nations – with evidence thatthe upward trend in life expectancy has all but halted. It is now more than ever that we need to focus on heath inequalities.

Our latest Annual Review looks at some of the ways in which local people have been addressing health inequalities in their neighbourhoods. The report is a celebration of the ordinary and extraordinary work of local people across Great Britain and the important things which can be achieved when they are in control of what happens in their area.

All of this has been made possible thanks to donations totalling £93m since 2011 from society lotteries working through The Health Lottery and representing every corner of Great Britain. Over 2,600 local projects and 440,000 people directly benefited from these donations.

I hope you enjoy reading it and I hope to hear from you if you want further information or you are interested in working with us in the coming year.

Best wishes,
John
