Small grants programme opens again in the North East

Thanks to players of the local Health Lottery run by HealthImprove in North East England money is now available for charities to apply for Health Community grants from People’s Health Trust, the independent charity responsible for deciding how the good causes money raised by players of the HealthImprove local lottery is spent

This new funding raised by HealthImprove – the Community Interest Company for County Durham, Stockton on Tees, Redcar, Cleveland, Middlesborough, Darlington, Hartlepool  - will make awards of between £5,000 and £10,000 of Health Lottery funding to local community and voluntary groups to support activities aiming to help people live longer and healthier lives.

We are encourage organisations or groups of people running grassroots activities that target people at higher risk of experiencing poor health, to apply for funding for activity that  supports an improvement in health and well being in your community and involves the community itself.

Healthy Communities grants are suitable for projects that:

  • are requesting between £5,000 and £10,000
  • last up to 12 months
  • are based and operate within one of the local society lotteries
  • are run by local charities and community groups with an annual income of less than £75,000 a year
