Annual Review and Annual Accounts

Influencing change

Read our new Annual Review

Welcome to this year's Annual Review.

The last year has been a busy one at the Trust. We have continued to ensure that we work very closely with local people to address the things which they say are important to make where they live even better places to grow, live, work and age. Ensuring local people are in control and connecting with each other is a critical way of mitigating health inequalities.

There remain significant differences in length of life between residents in richer and poorer neighbourhoods and we are seeing life expectancy slow almost to a stop since 2010.

In this review, you will see how partner organisations, often small and always local, support residents to come together. There are incredible stories of people organising and collectively influencing at a local level. Through independent evaluation you will see how local people are developing new skills and using their experience and wisdom to shape where they live to tackle the root causes of inequalities.

To date, more than £100 million has been raised for good causes across Great Britain. Thanks to players of The Health Lottery, it has meant that the Trust has funded 2,800 projects, supporting more than 486,000 people.

I hope you enjoy reading this year’s Annual Review and I look forward to working with you in the year ahead.

Best wishes,

John Hume

Chief Executive, People’s Health Trust
