“Hip hop helps improve confidence and self-esteem for young people”

SIN Cru represents all elements of hip hop culture, with music, dance and visual art forms as integral elements. People’s Health Trust funding is being used to run a project for local young people, using hip hop to improve confidence and self-esteem, encourage companionship and peer support, and to help them feel more in control of their emotional and physical health and wellbeing.

“Many of the young people at SIN Cru aren’t interested in traditional sports. Dance is a fantastic way for them to stay or get active – through activities they enjoy and that can have an impact on their health and wellbeing. It’s far more profound and enduring than simply keeping fit.” Lucy, Artistic Director at SIN Cru
