Crafty Women

“Being part of Crafty Women has changed my life!”

Local women in North Abergavenny, Monmouthshire, wanted to get creative and learn new skills, but found it difficult to find local craft groups that were accessible and affordable to them.

With support from Arts Alive Wales and Monmouthshire Housing Association they set up Crafty Women as a trial project – a local craft group that allowed them to be creative as a community, without the worries of how they could afford it.

When the initial project ended, the group knew that they didn’t want to give up on Crafty Women, so with new funding from People’s Health Trust - using money raised by HealthControl through The Health Lottery - Crafty Women has become even stronger.

The group now has over 35 members that meet regularly to socialise and make textile crafts.

“Being part of Crafty Women has changed my life”, said one participant. “I love the supportive environment that the group provides. We are all dealing with our own issues, but this is a great opportunity for us to come together as a community and be creative.”
