Riding high in Mansfield

15 November 2013

“A nice and safe place to make new friends, ride horses, and enjoy learning.”

Corner House Trust care home works with people who have complex needs including mental health issues and autism.

People’s Health Trust awarded funding to support a programme teaching 12-15 people living with a learning disability to learn to ride horses at a local riding stable. Comprising of 40 hour-long sessions taking place on a weekly basis, the programme encourages self-confidence through learning a new skill, meeting new people and improving physical health.

“We’re absolutely thrilled to receive this funding. We believe that with access to horses, the countryside and fresh air – along with structured lessons in a friendly and safe environment – this project will be a great support for those taking part.” Jo, Manager, Corner House
