Royal Voluntary Service transport for older people in North Ayrshire

19 November 2013

“This transport service will provide a lifeline for many of the isolated residents in North Ayrshire and enable them to get out and about…”

People’s Health Trust awarded Royal Voluntary Service £45,000 to support their community transport service in North Ayrshire. They provide a vital service, supporting over 350 older people across the county to get out and about - to go shopping, GP or hospital appointments or simply to meet up with friends. This scheme is one of 11 across the country, run by older people’s charity Royal Voluntary Service.

“This transport service will provide a lifeline for many of the isolated residents in North Ayrshire and enable them to get out and about to run errands, continue shopping as they always have done, to attend important health appointments and most importantly to retain their independence. We’re very grateful to the People’s Health Lottery for this vital funding. ” Margaret, head of RVS in Scotland
