Street Factory Studios support young people

15 November 2013

“I have never seen people respond so positively and so quickly – we’ve discovered some real raw talent.”

Street Factory brings the community together and gives families and individuals with alcohol or drug issues a chance to build their self-esteem, and re-build their family relationships. People’s Health Trust awarded Street Factory Community Interest Company a grant to extend their support to young people disengaged with education or employment and affected by drug, alcohol and substance dependency.

“I have never seen people respond so positively and so quickly – we’ve discovered some real raw talent. We used songs and dance to help them talk about their lives and express their emotions. These young adults say they struggle to feel accepted and welcomed within the community. Many have dropped out of education and felt like social pariahs with nothing to give. But by dancing and rapping with the younger kids and other dancers, they felt included for the first time in their lives. Joanna, Director, Street Factory
