Celebrating five years

06 October 2016

As People’s Health Trust approaches its fifth anniversary this month, we reflect on all that we have achieved over the last five years.

People’s Health Trust has been supporting local residents to make their communities an even better place to live. We have supported over 2,300 projects and helped more than 400,000 people in local communities across Great Britain, so far.

This has been made possible by 51 society lotteries raising money through The Health Lottery. Over £80million has been raised, which is an incredible achievement!

Over the years, we have funded a huge variety of projects. From IT classes for older people to community craft sessions, radio shows run by people with mental health issues or drama clubs for young people.

The projects may vary, but what they all have in common is that they are led by local people. All of our funded projects give local residents the chance to design and deliver activities that will benefit local people the most.

People’s Health Trust works to reduce health inequalities across Great Britain. We believe that where you live should not reduce the length of your life or quality of your health.

We seek to address this by investing in neighbourhood projects that are designed and led by local people. We believe that residents know the issues that affect their neighbourhoods better than anybody else and are the best placed to make change happen.

Thank you to everybody who has worked with us along the way.

We are grateful to the 51 local society lotteries raising money through The Health Lottery.

We are also grateful to the Living Wage Foundation, Citizens UK and New Economics Foundation (NEF), who support our aims and ambitions and are helping us to give local residents greater control over what happens in their neighbourhood.

Most of all, we are grateful for the support of local people and their belief in the power of community. We will continue to build upon everything we have achieved together to keep working towards much greater health equity in Great Britain in the years to come.
