Matthew Sowemimo

Matthew Sowemimo is Director of Policy and Communications at The Trust. Previously, he was Director of Communications at The Cystic Fibrosis Trust and Epilepsy Society where he developed a strong national media presence for these charities and enhanced their influence with central government. He played a major role in securing funding for high cost medicines in the national health service. Earlier in his career he has managed public affairs and campaigns functions in a series of national charities including The Multiple Sclerosis Society and Christian Aid. He has helped grassroots campaigners in Britain and Sub-Saharan African develop the skills needed to influence policymakers. Matthew is a former press officer for two government ministers. He has a doctorate in Political Science from the University of Sheffield and has written articles about British and European Union politics in a series of academic journals. Matthew does acting classes in his time outside work and one day hopes to perform in a play.
